Despite beating Botswana in an international friendly two weeks ago, Egypt's national football team held their position at 49 in the FIFA global football rankings, published on Thursday.

The Pharaohs continue in the sixth place among African countries in the FIFA rankings, behind Senegal (20), Tunisia (29), Nigeria (35), Algeria (38) and Morocco (42).

Egypt also came fourth among Arab countries, after Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco.

In the last FIFA rankings, released in September, Egypt's national team occupied the same spot (49).

Egypt, who will play their first official game in November against Kenya, defeated Botswana 1-0 in an friendly on 14 October within preparations for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
