Egypt U23 forward Taher Mohamed Taher has been ruled out of the Egypt squad for the U23 Nations Cup, which will start on Friday in Cairo, after picking-up a muscle injury.
The Arab Contractors forward sustained his injury during the national team's training, and examinations have revealed that he will not be available for the continental tournament.
Sources in the Egypt U23 team said that they asked the CAF to replace the player.
Wadi Degla defender Mahmoud Marey is also set to be replaced due to his injury.
Egypt will play in Group A along with Cameroon, Ghana and Mali, while Group B features reigning champions Nigeria, Zambia, Ivory Coast and South Africa.
The first three teams in the competition will represent Africa in the next year's Olympics games.
