Egypt national team coach Hossam El-Badry has expressed his pleasure with the Egyptian Premier League return after almost five months of suspended activities due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"We are happy the return of the Egyptian Premier League and we hope all players are safe .. safety is our main target," El-Badry told reporters after a meeting with Egypt national team technical staff on Monday.

"We divided the task of following the league games between all the staff and asked them to make sure of following all the precautionary measures," he added.

The Egyptian Premier League resumed on 6 August with a game between Zamalek and Masry.

"Suspending the league affected on the players' performance as we recognized it since the start of the games."

"We have talented tacticians in the league and they can improve the players' performance during games."

"We are still waiting for FIFA decision regarding the coming months agenda as the timeline [of national teams camps] is not yet clear," the Egypt national team coach said.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) recently decided to postpone next year’s Africa Cup of Nations to 2022 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
