Zamalek striker Amr Zaki will miss the Egyptian national team’s training camp in the UAE due to injury.

American manager Bob Bradley excused the player after medical reports recommended the 29-year-old take a break.

“Zaki has a perforated eardrum and needs to rest for several weeks,” Zamalek football director Ismail Youssef was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.

“He participated in Africa Sports (Ivorian champions) match but suffered pain in his ear.  Medical checks in Abidjan confirmed the ear damaged,” Youssef added.

Despite their 2-1 defeat on Sunday, the Cairo club won their ticket to the CAF Champions League round of 16 after qualifying on the away goal rule as the first leg ended with a one-nil win.

Leaving Tuesday, the Pharaohs are to play three friendly games in their camp in the gulf against Angola, Nigeria and Iraq, amid their preparations for the qualifiers to the 2013 African Cup of Nations and 2014 World Cup.
