Egypt national team coach Hossam El-Badry hits back at critics following previous comments on Zamalek's in-form striker Mostafa Mohamed and said he believes he had a positive impact on him.

In previous statements, El-Badry claimed that the 23-year old striker "still has a lot of work to do" in order to become the Pharaohs number one striker.

Mohamed has put on a string of fine performances recently including a brace against Raja - 3-1 on Wednesday - sending his team to the African Champions League final and putting more pressure on the national coach.

“What kind of explanation do you need from me concerning Mostafa Mohamed?” Said El-Badry in a press conference on Thursday.

"I have already included the player in my squad even before yesterday’s game, there is absolutely no player who does not need additional work and when you have a player with the abilities of Mostafa Mohamed you must work to bring out the best in him, I noticed since I spoke about Mostafa earlier he's had a positive reaction, and this is what any coach wishes from his player,” he added.

The Pharaohs have already started preparations for their double header against Togo on 14 and 17 November in the 2021 African Cup of Nations' qualifiers.

Ahly's former coach assured that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League final between Ahly and Zamalek scheduled for 27 November won’t affect the national team especially after postponing the game from 6 November to its new date.

“There’s high morale between both teams’ players; Ahly and Zamalek being in the final is something positive and I hope it will be in the interest of the national team,” said El-Badry.

He also revealed that Ahly winger Mahmoud 'Kahraba' Abdel-Moneim may be included in the squad list to compensate Arab Contractors winger Taher Mohamed who is expected to miss the national team games due to an injury.

“We called a large number of players just to recompense any player suffering from an injury. The national team is now facing circumstances that have never occurred in the history of Egyptian football,” he concluded.
