Liverpool star winger Mohamed Salah arrived in Gabon on Saturday to join Egypt squad ahead of Sunday’s World Cup qualifier between both teams, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) said.
Egypt will face Gabon in Libreville on Sunday in the second round of the African World Cup qualifiers.
The Pharaohs made a winning start to their Group F campaign on Wednesday, beating Angola 1-0 at home in a game that was missed by Salah due to the United Kingdom's quarantine restrictions.
As Egypt is on the UK's red-list, Salah would be obliged to quarantine for 10 days on his return to England if he played against Angola in Cairo.
Salah's absence in particular left Egypt coach Hossam El-Badry without his most lethal weapon as Egypt start their bid to qualify for the World Cup for a second consecutive time.
The 29-year-old Salah is second in Egypt's list of all-time top scorers with 45 goals, 31 goals behind iconic striker Hossam Hassan.
On Friday, the EFA announced that Arsenal's Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny will not be available for Egypt's clash against Gabon due to a muscle injury.
Egypt are leading their Group with three points on level with Libya, while Gabon lie in the bottom of the Group after losing to Libya 2-1 on Wednesday.
Egypt will be facing Libya in a double-header in October. Only the group winners will advance to a final two-legged playoff for a place in next year's World Cup in Qatar.
