Egypt's newly appointed Coach Carlos Queiroz said on Wednesday he is happy after taking charge of the Pharaohs during the current period, stressing he is ready for the new challenges and to fulfill all the goals and the dreams of the Egyptian national team and its supporters.

"It is with pride, gratitude, and ambition that I accept the honorable invitation from the Egyptian FA to be the National Team Coach," Queiroz tweeted on Wednesday.

"I want to express my commitment to use the best of my experience and knowledge to fulfill the goals and dreams of such a prestigious Football Country with passionate and dedicated supporters. To the future."

The Portuguese coach was named as Egypt new coach on Wednesday to succeed Coach Hossam El-Badri who was shown the door on Monday.

El-Badri was under fire after Egypt's shaky performance in the World qualifiers that saw Egypt earn a narrow 1-0 win over Angola before being held to a 1-1 away draw by Gabon.

Egypt are now in a critical situation in the qualifiers as they lie second in the Group with four points, two behind leader Libya.

Egypt will be desperate for win to improve their situation in the Group when they face Libya in a double encounter in October.

The leaders of the 10 groups will advance to a final two-legged playoff round to determine Africa's five representatives at next year's Qatar finals.
