Egypt announce preliminary squad for London Olympic Games

El-Hadary, Treika, Zidan and Meteb among senior stars selected for Egypt's preliminary Olympic squad

Hany Ramzy announced a preliminary 35-man squad for the Olympic tournament on Thursday.

Ten squad members are above the 23-year-old age limit and ten are from the senior squad.

Olympic rules state only three players selected from the senior squad can be above 23-years-old. The squad will be whittled down to 22 players ahead of the tournament.

The Squad:            

Goalkeepers: Essam El-Hadary (Ittihad of Alexandria) Ahmed El-Shennawy (Masry), Ali Lotfy (ENPPI), Mohamed Bassam (Tala El-Geish)

Defenders: Omar Gaber (Zamalek), Salah Soliman (Zamalek), Mahmoud Alaa (Haras El-Hodoud), Saad Samir (Masry), Islam Ramadan (Haras El-Hodoud), Ali Fathy (Arab Contractors), Ahmed Hegazy (Fiorentina), Mohamed Abdel-Shafy (Zamalek)

Midfielders:Ahmed Fathi (Ahly), Hosni Abd-Rabou (Ittihad Jeddah), Moaz El-Hennawy, Mohammed El-Nenni (Arab Contractors), Saleh Gomaa (ENPPI), Ahmed Sobhy (ENPPI), Hossam Hassan (Masry), Ahmed Magdy (Ghazl EL-Mahalla), Ahmed Sherwida (Masry), Shehab  Eddine Ahmed (Ahly), Hisham Mohamed (Smouha)
