The Pharaohs were unlucky against Algeria, losing two of their important players in the first half hour of the game. Ahly’s defender Ashraf left the game at the 10th minute after his knee injury, while Ittihad Jeddah's defender Hegazi was substituted at the 31st minute after his muscular injury.
The national team doctor revealed that the final decision regarding Hegazi and Ashraf will be taken after both undergo x-ray examination to determine how serious their injuries are, the suitable treatment, and when they will be able to play again.
"We've started a rehab program to prepare Hegazi and Ashraf for next games without disclosing how long they will be absent," said the national team doctor.
Ahly’s full back Akram Tawfik will miss the Jordan game scheduled for Saturday after receiving the second yellow card against Algeria.
Egypt qualified first in their Group D virtue of a better fair play record than Algeria after the already-qualified sides played out an exciting 1-1 draw in Qatar's Al-Wakrah on Tuesday.
