Egypt winger Ahmed Elmohamady may not make Saturday's 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) qualifier against Central Africa Republic (CAR) after he sustained an injury during the Pharaohs’ training session.

The 24-year-old Sunderland player suffered a hamstring muscle strain and could not continue playing in Tuesday evening’s practice.

“The player will undergo scans and examinations before we decide to allow him to join the Central Africa trip,” team doctor Tarek Soliman told Ahram Online.

While the holders of seven CAN trophies are in a do-or-die situation after being defeated 3-2 in the first leg, American manager Bob Bradley only has the duo Ahmed Fathy and Bassem Ali in the right winger position now.

However, Ahly trio: striker Emad Meteb, left winger Sayed Moawad and goalkeeper Sherif Ekrami joined the Pharaohs after leaving the Reds training camp in Turkey while FC Basel’s young forward is expected to arrive Wednesday.
