The Pharaohs will host Senegal in the first leg of qualifying playoff on 25 March at the Cairo International Stadium, while the second leg match will be held four days later at Stade Olympique de Diamniadio Stadium in the Senegalese capital Dakkar.
The Lions of Teranga held a closed camp in Morocco in the midweek as part of preparations for the anticipated two-leg game in the attendance of the team’s stars.
Last time the two sides met, Senegal prevailed over Egypt in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final in Cameroon last month, winning on penalties following a 0-0 draw.
Senegal reached the FIFA World Cup finals two times in 2002 and 2018, while Egypt made it to the prestigious tournament three times in 1934, 1990, and 2018.
