Egypt:
Mohamed El-Shennawi - Omar Gaber, Mahmoud El-Wensh, Mohamed Abdel-Moneim, Ahmed Fattouh - Hamdi Fathi, Mohamed Elneny, Amr El-Sulaya - Mahmoud Trezeguet, Mohamed Salah, Mostafa Mohamed

Senegal: Edouard Mendy - Bouna Sarr, Kalidou Koulibaly, Abdou Diallo, Saliou Ciss - Idrissa Gueye, Cheikhou Kouyate, Nampalys Mendy - Ismaila Sarr, Famara Diedhiou, Sadio Mane

20:30 Liverpool's Sadio Mane and Turkish-based striker Famara Diedhiou spearhead Senegal's attack tonight. Coach Cisse sticks to the same line-up that beat Egypt in the Nations Cup final.

19:30 Egypt coach Queiroz surprisingly includes Pyramids FC right-back Omar Gaber in his starting line-up as he gets the nod ahead of Omar Kamal, who was the regular starter at the Nations Cup. Turkish-based winger Mahmoud Trezeguet is also preferred to Stuttgart's Omar Marmoush.

18:30 Cairo's International Stadium is almost full, three hours before the game!

17:30 Another Salah-Mane duel is anticipated following their meeting in the Nations Cup final, when Mane got the upper hand with the winning penalty in a shootout. Yesterday, Salah called for fan support in an emotional message on his social media accounts.

"We need you tomorrow," he said.

16:00 Egypt placed in the 34th position of the FIFA world ranking while Senegal are 18th after claiming the AFCON 2021 title that took place in Cameroon from 6 January to 9 February 2022.

15:00 Cairo International stadium doors are open as fans started to warm their seats ahead of the anticipated clash. Doors will be closed at 20:00 (CLT), only one-and-half hour before the game kicks off.

14:30 Senegal and Egypt failed to go to the knockout stage in the 2018 World Cup due to varying degrees of failure as the Lions of Teranga were the first team in World Cup history to be eliminated after having collected more yellow cards. On the other hand, the Pharaohs’ performance was a fiasco, finishing 31 out of the 32 teams, losing all three group stage games.

13:00 Egypt made it to the FIFA World Cup three times in 1934, 1990, and 2018, while Senegal reached the prestigious tournament finals two times in 2002 and 2018.

12:00 Egypt and Senegal met in 14 matches before, as the Pharaohs claimed 7 victories, 3 draws and lost in 4 games. The last time they met was only last month when Senegal defeated Egypt on penalties in the final of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) played in Cameroon.

10:30 Big number of 60,000 supporters are expected to show up in the 75,000-seat Cairo International Stadium on Friday to record the biggest crowd seen in Egypt in a decade. Security issues and later the coronavirus allowed only a fraction of that number in the country’s stadiums.

"With fans attendance, Egypt’s national team players will do their best on the pitch to win as well as to qualify for the World Cup, as it’s a big challenge for the players," Egypt’s national team coach Carlos Queiroz said ahead of the game.
