19:15 In Egypt's first line-up under Galal, the team play without an out-and-out striker, with Mohamed Salah leading a three-pronged attack that also includes Bundesliga-based winger Omar Marmoush and Aston Villa's Mahmoud Trezeguet. 

18:00 Egypt's new coach Galal insisted an opening win is of a great importance. Egypt next face Ethiopia away from home on Thursday. Ethiopia lost 2-1 to Malawi in the other Group D match earlier on Sunday. 

17:00 The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) said Mohamed Salah would be "honoured" before the game after he led Liverpool to the domestic League Cup and FA Cup titles last season. 

15:30 Egypt will be supported by 40,000 spectators in the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Guinea at home.

“Security authorities officially informed us that 40,000 supporters will be allowed to attend Egypt’s first game in the AFCON qualifiers against Guinea at Cairo’s International stadium,” read a statement by the EFA.

14:30 Egypt's last competitive game against Guinea was a World Cup qualifier in 2013, which the Pharaohs won 4-2 at home. Their most recent meeting saw Egypt defeat Guinea 3-1 in a friendly game in 2019.

14:00 A warm welcome from Egypt's Mohamed Salah to his Liverpool's Guinean teammate Naby Keita ahead of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers game.

13:00 Egypt coach Ehab Galal promised a "different playing style" as he begins his reign at home to Guinea in their opening African Cup of Nations qualifier.

"We will introduce a different playing style. Our target is win in every game," he told a news conference.

12:00 Egypt will miss the services of first-choice goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawi and regular left-back Ahmed Fattouh after both had contracted COVID-19. Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny is also doubtful due to injury.

"We will be affected by El-Shennawi's absence but have the utmost confidence in all of our keepers," Galal said.
