The Pharaohs placed 6th among African countries, behind African champions Senegal at 18th place overall, Morocco at 22nd, Tunisia at 30th, Nigeria at 31st and Cameroon at 38th.

They placed 3rd among Arab countries, after Morocco and Tunisia.

Egypt played three games this June, claiming a 1-0 home win over Guinea in their opening Group D game of the qualifiers, before suffering a 0-2 loss to Ethiopia, and then slumping to a 1-4 defeat against South Korea in a friendly.

Egypt had previously made it into the world’s top ten teams after they won three consecutive African Cup of Nations trophies in 2006, 2008, and 2010.

Last week, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) parted ways with Pharaohs’ coach Ehab Galal , who had been in charge for less than two months.

The 54-year-old coach came under fire after the team’s stunning loss to Ethiopia in a Nations Cup qualifier.

Egypt recently missed out on the chance to reach the Qatar 2022 World Cup after losing to Senegal on penalties in the final phase of the qualifiers.

In general rankings, Brazil reigned over the top ten national teams, ahead of Belgium and Argentina.
