EFA held a press conference in its headquarters on Wednesday to present the new Portuguese coach to the public in the presence of the association’s president Gamal Allam and board member Hazem Emam who was in charge of signing Vitoria.

“Coaching Egypt is something big to me and I’m happy here. We have a good project for the upcoming years,” Vitoria said in a press conference.

“Today, I became an Egyptian like you and I hope that I will reach the goal we wish. No one can work alone, so we must all unite to achieve our goals," he added.

“After working with many clubs and because I was thinking of a project for the future, I agreed to coach the Egyptian national team, especially since I am still a young coach,” the 52-year-old coach added.

EFA has signed with Vitoria for four years. Hazem Emam explained that is solid proof of the confidence that the FA gave Vitoria.

“When Hazem Emam told me that the Egyptian national team project is supported by 100 million fans, I accepted immediately,” said Vitoria, “I love working with young players and our project over the next four years supports my ideas and through it we will reach our goals".

“Egypt has high-quality footballers but we must work to develop and improve the performance and quality of the players,” he explained.

The former Benfica coach revealed that he talked with Egypt and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah but refused to reveal details of their discussion.

“I respect teamwork and all players of the national team. Mohamed Salah is a famous player and he is the best in the world, but we will try to create a new Salah in Egypt,” said Vitoria.

Vitoria is the fifth Portuguese coach to join Egyptian football. Currently, there are four Portuguese coaches in the Egyptian Premier League: Zamalek’s Jesualdo Ferreira, Ahly’s Ricardo Soares, Enppi’s Jorvan Vieira, and Pharco’s Nuno Almeida.

“I didn’t talk to the Portuguese coaches in the Egyptian League until now, but I will contact all coaches as soon as possible. I will probably meet Ferreira and Soares tomorrow and talk with them,” Vitoria explained.

“I'm not a magician but I will work and try to implement our ideas and develop performance, but this will not happen overnight. I want all the coaches of the Egyptian League to work well with their teams and with the players because this will benefit the Pharaohs.” Vitoria stated.

“My technical staff and I have already started following Egyptian matches. I will talk to the players and tell them whether they are playing the way we want or not and I will give my attention to all players,” he added.
