“Essam El-Hadary and Mahmoud Fayez were named as Cuper assistants,” read a statement on the official fakebook account of the (SFA) on Sunday.
El-Hadary has been Egypt U-23 national team goalkeeping coach but has reportedly encountered many differences with Brazilian Rogerio Micale. Both have denied any troubles between them.
The former Pharaohs captain was also member of Carlos Queiroz staff who led Egypt from September 2021 to March 2022.
El-Hadary has been Egypt's number 1 keeper under Cuper and led the team to 2017 Africa Cup of Nations final and reach the 2018 World Cup for the first time since 1930.
Hadary is an iconic figure in Egyptian football after winning four African titles with Egypt and shattering several domestic, continental and world records on the course of his 25-year old career.
“After spending a period with the Egypt U 23 team, I announce my departure for a new experience in Syria with Hector Cuper technical staff, ” read a statement on El-Hadary’s official Facebook account on Sunday.
“I received the permission of Rogerio Micale and EFA member Mohamed Barakat.”
“I thank all who helped me to work at the Pharaohs and the U 23 team and I thank Micale and I wish him all the success and to help the team reach the 2024 Olympic games.”
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) is yet to issue any comment about the matter or to decide a successor for El-Hadari.
