Egypt U-23 reach Nations Cup after Zambia draw

Egypt U-23 team secured their place in this summer’s U-23 Africa Cup of Nations after holding Zambia to a goalless draw in Lusaka in the second-leg of the final round of the competitions’ qualifiers on Sunday.

The Pharaohs have already won the first leg 2-0 four days earlier in Cairo.

The U-23 Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled in Morocco next June.

The first three teams in the continental competition will represent Africa in the next year’s Olympic Games Paris 2024, while the fourth will face his Asian counterpart in the playoffs.   

Egypt participated in the 2020 edition in Tokyo as they were eliminated from the tournament’s quarter-finals after losing 1-0 to future champions Brazil.
