Egypt's U-23 coach names squad for Russia friendlies

Egypt coach Rogerio Micale named on Thursday a 30-man list for Russia's two friendlies as the team begins its preparations for the 2024 Olympic Games.

The list saw the presence of three foreign-based players: Omar Fayed (Fenerbahçe), Bilal Mazhar (Panathinaikos), and Mostafa Ashraf (Borussia Mönchengladbach).

The games are scheduled on the 7th of September and the 11th of the same month at Suez Stadium.

Egypt secured their place in next year's Olympic Games (Paris 2024) after finishing second in the African qualifiers behind winners Morocco. 

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Hamza Alaa (Ahly), Ali El-Gabry (Ceramica Cleopatra), Mohamed Ahmed Sayed (Arab Contractors), and Basha Mohamed Basha (Aluminium Nag Hamadi)

Defenders: Hatem Sukar, Mohamed Tarek (Zamalek), Mohamed Samir, Khaled Awad (Talae El-Geish), Ahmed Sayed (Zed FC), Ahmed Eid (Masry FC), Mohamed Maghraby (Smouha), Omar Fayed (Fenerbahce), and Mohamed Hamdi

Midfielders: Mahmoud Saber (Pyramids FC), Ali Zazaa (Future FC), Ahmed Nabil Kouka, Rafaat Khalil (Ahly), Mostafa Saad (Ceramica Cleopatra), Ahmed Fawzi, Arabi Badr (Arab Contractors), Mahmoud Gehad (Pharco), Ahmed Nader Hawash (Enppi), Mostafa Ashraf (Borussia Mönchengladbach) and Ahmed Atef (Zed FC)

Forwards: Abdelrahman Atef (Dakhleya) and Bilal Mazhar (Panathinaikos).
