During the camp, the Egyptian team will play against Ethiopia in the final round of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, followed by a friendly against Tunisia.

“At every new phase, unique opportunities present themselves,” Vitoria said via his Instagram account early on Tuesday.

“At this stage, we want to evolve, innovate and grow stronger as a team. We move forward together,” added the Portuguese coach.

Ipswich Town midfielder Sam Morsy, Future FC defender Omar Kamal, Pyramids FC forward Ibrahim Adel and NBE Club forward Osama Faisal joined the camp on Monday in their first call-up by Vitoria.

Ahly’s international players also arrived after taking leave from their team’s preparatory camp in Austria.

The Egyptians clinched their spot in the African Cup of Nations during the previous round, leading Group D with 12 points, three points ahead of second-placed Guinea, who also qualified.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers are set to be played in Côte d'Ivoire in January 2024.
