Egypt’s U-23 team announce squad for November camp amid Olympics preparations

Egypt’s U-23 team coach Rogerio Micale announced on Sunday a 28-man squad ahead of starting a training camp as part of the preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The camp will start on Monday and last until 21 November and will include a friendly match against an unnamed opponent.

On 30 October, the Brazilian coach called up three foreign-based players for the camp including Omar Fayed, Mostafa Ashraf, and Bilal Mazhar before announcing the rest of the squad today.

The Egyptian Football Association is reportedly in negotiations with Congo, Guinea, and Mali football federations to arrange the opponent of the friendly game after the apology of the US U-23 team.

Egypt qualified for the Olympic Games after finishing second in the 2023 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The full 28-man squad:
 

Goalkeepers: Hamza Alaa, Aly El-Gabry, Mohamed Ahmed, and Mohamed Nadeem.

Defenders: Mohamed Ashraf, Mohamed Tarek, Hossam Abdel-Meged, Karim El-Debes, Mohamed Hamdy, Ahmed Mahmoud, Ahmed Hossam, Mohamed Maghraby, Ahmed Eid, and Omar Fayed.

Midfielders: Mahmoud Saber, Ahmed Atef, Mostafa Saad, Ahmed Nabil Kouka, Ziad Farag, Ahmed Fawzy, Ahmed Nader Hawash, Omar Mamdouh, Walid Ali Farag, Mohamed Shehata, and Mostafa Ashraf.

Strikers: Osama Faisal, Hossam Ashraf, and Bilal Mazhar.
