"The Capital Cup provides us with a chance to reconcile with the fans and regain their trust," Hegazi told FIFA on Tuesday.
"It is an opportunity to face teams with different philosophies and prepare the country for upcoming major tournaments. It also allows the fans to enjoy watching top-level players, which enhances the game."
The Egyptian national team is currently preparing for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, scheduled to start in June.
Hegazi heaped praise on the Pharaohs' new coach, Hossam Hassan, who took charge last month following the departure of Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria.
"The team is led by Hossam Hassan, one of the legends of Egyptian football who previously participated in the 1990 World Cup and won the African Cup of Nations three times."
"He is a great player and a great coach, and he always motivates players in a perfect way." he concluded
