Egypt goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy expressed his gratitude to Pharaohs coach Hossam Hassan for his belief in him, stating that he is always prepared to defend the colors of his national team.

The Ahly goalkeeper defended Egypt's net against Burkina Faso on Thursday, making his first appearance since sustaining a shoulder injury during the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

Despite conceding a goal, the 34-year-old delivered a satisfying performance that earned praise from coach Hossam Hassan.

"I am very happy to be back in action," Mohamed El-Shennawy told On TIME sports channel after the game.

He also expressed his appreciation to coach Hossam Hassan for having confidence in his abilities and experience.

El-Shennawy emphasized the importance of the victory against Burkina Faso, which allowed the Pharaohs to maintain their winning streak in the World Cup qualifiers.

Egypt currently leads their group with the maximum of nine points, trailing second-placed Guinea Bissau by four points.

Guinea Bissau, however, was held to a goalless draw at home by Ethiopia earlier on Thursday.

"The win is a crucial step in our World Cup qualifying campaign," El-Shennawy stated.

"We faced a tough opponent, and we anticipate another challenging clash against Guinea Bissau." He concluded.
