The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) have refused the possible postponement of the Pharaohs' anticipated clash against Botswana in the 2025 Nations Cup qualifiers at the request of the Botswanan Football Association (BFA)

The game was set to be played in Botswana on Tuesday at 16:00 Cairo local time (GMT+3) at Francistown Stadium.

However, the BFA asked the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to move it to 21:00 (CLT), and it was reported that the African football governing body accepted the Botswanan request.

“We stick to the initial date of the game due to the commitments of foreign-based players who have flight schedules,” read a statement on the (EFA) official website.

The Zebras, who suffered a 1-0 loss to Mauritania in their Group C opener on Saturday, failed to leave Nouakchott as scheduled on Sunday due to logistical problems, as announced by the BFA.

Consequently, the Botswanan side is set to arrive home on Tuesday at 10:00 (CLT), six hours before the game starts, prompting the BFA to ask CAF to reschedule the match for the evening.

Egypt, who defeated Cape Verde 3-0 at home on Friday, are leading the group with three points on level with Mauritania, which will visit Cape Verde on Tuesday.

The top two teams from the 12 groups will advance to the Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to be held in Morocco next year.
