Egypt kick off preparations for Ethiopia, Sierra Leone tests in World Cup qualifiers

Egypt's national football team kicked off a training camp on Sunday night amid preparations for the two anticipated games against Ethiopia and Sierra Leone in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Pharaohs are set to face Ethiopia in the qualifiers' fifth round on 21 March in Morocco.

Then, they will meet Sierra Leone in a home clash on 25 March in the sixth round.

Earlier Saturday, Egypt's coach Hossam Hassan announced a 24-man final squad for the two crucial fixtures.

According to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), 14 players participated in Sunday’s training session. The rest will join the team on Monday before travelling to Morrocco on Tuesday.

Four rounds in, Egypt are leading Group A with 10 points, a four-point advantage over Guinea-Bissau and a five-point lead over Burkina Faso in third.

Sierra Leone come fourth in the group with five points, while Ethiopia are fifth with three points.

Meanwhile, Djibouti occupy the bottom spot with just one point.
