Ethiopia head coach Mesay Teferi expressed confidence in his team’s ability to contain Egypt’s attacking stars Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush as the Egyptian squad arrived in Morocco on Wednesday to prepare for their 2026 World Cup qualifier.

At a press conference, Teferi outlined his defensive plan against Egypt’s key attackers while acknowledging the team's overall strength.

"We are ready to contain the threat posed by Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush, but we must defend with caution, especially on the right side," Teferi said.

"However, we are not solely focused on these two. Egypt’s quality is evident across all positions, particularly in attack," he added.

Egypt completed their squad for the international break, with Salah, Marmoush, and striker Mostafa Mohamed joining the training camp.

Due to stadium unavailability in Ethiopia, the match will be hosted by Morocco.

The Pharaohs lead their group by four points over second-placed Guinea-Bissau.

Only the top team is securing direct qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
