The seeding is based according to the latest World Rankings released on Wednesday, 19 November.

Other notable African nations in the same pot include Algeria, Tunisia, Côte d’Ivoire and South Africa, while Morocco and Senegal are the only African teams in the higher Pot 2.

Hosts Canada, Mexico and the United States will be allocated to Pot 1, in line with the Final Draw procedures.

Egypt slipped two places to 34th in the November FIFA rankings, while Morocco rose to 11th.

Under the draw rules, no group can contain more than one team from the same confederation, except for UEFA, which has 16 representatives.

Each group must include at least one, but no more than two, UEFA teams.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup draw will take place on 5 December in Washington.

Egypt will be making their fourth appearance at the World Cup finals, having previously participated in 1934, 1990 and 2018.
