The draw for the 2026 World Cup took place at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., on Friday.

Egypt will open their 2026 World Cup campaign against Belgium.

The two sides have met in four previous friendlies, with Egypt winning three times and losing once.

In their head-to-head record against other group opponents, Egypt has faced Iran twice, losing once and drawing once.

Egypt has played New Zealand three times, winning two of those encounters and drawing once.

The Pharaohs secured their spot in next year’s tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with an unbeaten run in the African qualifiers, finishing top of Group A with 26 points.

"It is a great honor to reach the World Cup as both a player and a coach," Egypt national team coach Hossam Hassan said after leading Egypt to reach the World Cup finals.

This will be Egypt’s fourth appearance at the World Cup finals, having previously competed in 1934, 1990, and 2018.

"We did a great job during the qualifiers because we have great players," Hassan said.

Egypt has been placed in Pot 3 for the first-ever 48-team FIFA World Cup in 2026. The seeding was determined based on the latest World Rankings, which were released in November.
