Egypt are in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, Ethiopia and Tunisia. Morocco were due to face Tunisia later on Wednesday.

The top two teams from each of the four groups qualify automatically for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, which will be held in Qatar next November.

The four third-placed teams will advance to playoffs to determine the remaining two African qualifiers, with the continent allocated 10 spots at the World Cup.

Egypt face Tunisia on Saturday before concluding their group-stage campaign against Morocco on Tuesday.

Also on Wednesday, Côte d’Ivoire beat Cameroon 2-0 in Group B to move top of the group, which also includes Uganda and DR Congo.
