Ismaily goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhy will replace injured Zamalek goalkeeper Abdel-Wahed El-Sayed ahead of Egypt's anticipated World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe on Sunday.

Late on Friday, Sobhy was called up by the Pharaohs technical staff after El-Sayed sustained a rib injury that will rule him out of the match.

"Egypt technical staff have finally decided to call up Sobhy who will join the Pharaohs camp in Harare within the coming few hours," Ahram Sport revealed.

Understudy custodian Sherif Ekramy, who has put on some impressive displays with Cairo giants Ahly recently, is likely to guard the goal posts when Egypt face Zimbabwe on Sunday. He is also expected to feature against Mozambique in their next World Cup qualifier seven days later.

Egypt are on top of Group G of the World Cup qualifiers with nine points, five ahead of second-placed Guinea and seven clear of Mozambique with three matches remaining. Zimbabwe lie at the bottom with a solitary point.

The seven-time African champions could secure their place in the final round with two matches to spare if they beat Zimbabwe and Guinea fail to overcome Mozambique.
