Egypt were drawn in Group A, alongside hosts Rwanda, Senegal and Burkina Faso, during the U17 African Cup of Nations 2011 draw conducted in Gisenyi, Rwanda,  Saturday. The Egyptian side will open their campaign on 8 January against Senegal before taking on the hosts on 11 January . They end their group stage games against Burkina Faso on 14 January.

“We are in a balanced group but the problem is that there is not enough information concerning our opponents,” Egypt U-17 coach, Mohamed Omar, told AhramOnline.

Group B combined champions Gambia, Congo, Ivory Coast and Mali.

“The two groups are equivalent and there will be no easy matches,” Omar added.

The ninth edition of the ACN U-17 will be played from 8-22 January, 2011. The semi-finalists will qualify for the U17 World Cup, scheduled for July in Mexico.

The young Pharaohs are looking for their first title in 14 years. Their last win was in Botswana in 1997.
