Egypt are unfazed by taking on the teams allocated to Pot 1 in the World Cup qualifying playoffs, Pharaohs assistant coach Zaki Abdel-Fattah said on Thursday.
The Pharaohs have been placed in Pot 2 for the African qualifiers, based on FIFA's world rankings published on Thursday.
Consequently, the seven-time African champions will face one of either Ivory Coast, Ghana, Algeria, Nigeria or Tunisia, who have all been placed in Pot 1.
The Pharaohs will learn who they will face in the final two-legged playoff when the draw takes place on 16 September in Cairo.
"Egypt are ready to face any opponent," Abdel-Fattah told Ahram Sports on Thursday.
"The instability of the country was the main reason for our bad position in the FIFA rankings.
"We are a strong team and we don't fear any opponent," he added.
