Egypt manager Bob Bradley has expressed satisfaction with his team's 2-0 victory over Uganda in Monday's friendly, amid their preparations for the World Cup playoff against Ghana on 15 October.

"I wanted to see new faces in the team so the friendly was very important especially during the football stoppage," the American told the press after the game.

No foreign-based players participated in the match and neither did 11 Ahly players who were permitted to leave the camp to play in the CAF Champions League semifinal first leg on Saturday against Cameroon's Coton Sport.

Egyptian football competitions have been in trouble since February 2012 when the league was cancelled after deadly clashes between fans in the Port Said stadium. The latest Premier League season was cancelled following security problems after the army ousted elected president Mohamed Morsi on 3 July following mass protest demanding early elections.

"We will not play any more friendly games before 9 October because the [ten] foreign-based players will be participating in matches with their teams on 5 and 6 October," the 54-year-old tactician added.

Ahly players will rejoin the camp on 7 October, five days before the full squad head to Kumasi for the anticipated showdown.

Egypt are competing for their first qualification ticket to the most prestigious tournament since 1990.
