South Africa coach Pitso Mosimane boasts that his team is capable of downing Egypt in the crucial qualifier of the 2012 African Cup of Nations.
They last met in a friendly match in London over four years ago that ended 0-1 for the Pharoahs. The Bafana Bafana coach is now welling to get revenge in the Ellis Park Stadium.
“We believe we can win this game. We feel the pressure, but we wouldn't be here if we didn't like the pressure," Mosimane was quoted as saying by Kickoff magazine on Tuesday.
According to Mosimane, his squad players are experienced and talented enough to take on the Pharaohs, considering they have played against world giants like Spain, Brazil and France in the past two years.
"It is our time now. We have played Brazil and we showed who we are. I was also looking at the whole team of Spain [in a picture at the Royal Marang hotel in Rustenburg]. I saw Pique, I saw Xavi, I saw Torres, I saw Iniesta. I said ‘oh okay we played them two times.'"
“We also took Brazil to the 90th minute before conceding a goal and we beat France 2-1. So we should be able to play Egypt," Mosimane concluded.
Egypt needs to win as it lies at the bottom of Group G with a single point from six, three behind leaders South Africa, who seem destined to reach next year’s finals, which will be held in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
