Zidan makes first appearance of the season

Egyptian striker Mohamed Zidan made his first appearance for Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in seven months, after featuring in his team’s 3-0 win over Karpaty (Ukraine) in the Europa League on Thursday

The 29-year old striker came off the bench in the 65thminute to replace Shinji Kagawa.His team was leading  2-0 and he had a couple of efforts on goal but neither of them went through.

Robert Lewandowski added the third goal to complete the 3-0 victory, following Kagawa,5, and Mats Hummels, 49th minute, early goals.

Zidan has been ruled out with a knee-ligament injury since last April. He played 35 minutes in Egypt’s friendly against Australia, 3-0, in 17 November and managed to score a goal. The Pharaohs number 9 has been fully fit since the beginning of November but lacked match action.

Dortmund are now third of the Group J in the Europa League with 8 points, one behind second-placed Sevilla (Spain) and 3 behind  Paris Saint Germain (France).
