Ahmed Ali’s Al-Hilal completed the domestic double after a 2-1 victory over Al-Raed gave them the Saudi league title.

Al-Raed stunned Al-Hilal with a third-minute lead but Romanian midfielder Mirel Radoi levelled the score ten minutes before the break with a low free kick from the edge of the area.

In-form midfielder Mohamed El-Shalhoub netted Al-Hilal’s precious winner on 65 minutes with a thunderous left-foot shot that left the keeper with no chance.

Egyptian striker Ali, who joined Al-Hilal from Ismaily last January on a loan deal that is due to expire at the end of the season, started the game and produced a fine display before being substituted on the hour mark.

Al-Hilal’s victory gave them an unassailable 11-point lead over second-placed Ittihad with two matches remaining before the end.

They also won the Saudi Crown Prince Cup earlier this month following a 5-1 drubbing of Al-Wehda.

Ali, who has scored five goals in all competitions since beginning his Gulf adventure, said recently he was looking to prolong his stay at Al-Hilal.

He became the second Egyptian player to win the Saudi league after Emad Meteb, who clinched the title with Jeddah-based club Ittiahd in 2009.
