Egypt center-half Ramy Rabia could recover in time to make his Sporting Lisbon bow against rivals Porto in the Portuguese Cup, according to local reports.
Rabia, who joined Sporting in the close season from Ahly, was hit with an abdominal injury blow shortly after joining the Portuguese giants – and he is yet to make a competitive appearance for his new club.
Having undergone surgery last month, the 21-year-old is now in line to make his comeback from injury in ten days' time to play against Porto, who finished in third place in the league last season.
Meanwhile, Egypt teammate Shikabala will decide whether to remain at Sporting or terminate his contract with the league runners-up – according to the ex-Zamalek midfielder's agent Samir Abdel-Tawab.
The relationship between Shikabala and Sporting, whom he joined on a deadline day transfer deal in January this year, has been far from intact of late after failing to show up at training for almost a month now.
"Shikabala will decide on his future during the coming few days," Abdel-Tawab told Egyptian media.
"He will decide whether to remain at Sporting or annul his deal with the club and leave."
Shikabala, 28, has made a single appearance for Sporting. He played for 13 minutes in a 1-0 league defeat by Estoril in the final match of last season.
