Attacking midfielder Mohamed Ibrahim has returned to Zamalek on a four-and-a-half year deal after ending a brief stint with Portuguese side Maritimo, the Cairo club said on Friday.

Ibrahim’s spell with Maritimo lasted less than six months after he reportedly failed to adapt to life in Portugal.

Zamalek said they had successfully concluded negotiations with Maritimo over Ibrahim’s return but did not disclose how much they would pay to bring him back, having sold him last summer for €400,000.

The 22-year-old has only made seven Portuguese league appearances before asking his club to let him return to Egypt.

He will not be able to play any part with Zamalek this season though, with the club having already completed their 30-man Egyptian Premier League squad list.

Local reports said he would be loaned out to Alexandria club Ittihad until the end of the season.
