Egypt winger Mohamed Salah, who is on loan at Fiorentina, has been invited by Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho to attend the English Premier League award ceremony where winners Chelsea will receive the cup, in order to receive his medal.

The 22-year-old joined Fiorentina on loan from Chelsea in the winter transfer window and excelled at the Italian side, scoring eight goals in 22 appearances in all competitions.

Chelsea secured the English Premier League 2014-2015 title two weeks before the end of the championship as they are now on 84 points, 11 points more than second-placed Manchester City.

Mourinho has said that all the players who participated this season still “belong” and deserve to be recognised.

"The invite has been sent out to Schurrle, Salah, Mark Schwarzer, Lewis Baker, all of them who started the season with us," Mourinho told the press conference ahead of the Aston Villa game in the league.

Chelsea will receive their medals on 24 May, the tournament’s last match day, after their game against Sunderland.

"They have been invited to the last match against Sunderland and the Chelsea Player of the Year dinner. They still belong," Mourinho added.

"We are not sure if they all can make it, Lewis can, we are not sure about the others. But at least they know they belong to us winning the title. They are champions like us.”

Salah, who joined Chelsea from Swiss side Basel on a five-and-a-half year contract in January 2014 for an £11 million transfer deal, only made three appearances with the Blues in the English Premier League this season.

"I know that by the rules they only give a medal to a player who had five appearances and there are some who won’t get an official medal.

"But we are going to buy medals, replicas of the cup and for me the champions are the ones who played every minute like John Terry, but a champion is also Schwarzer who has not played a minute,” the Blues tactician concluded.
