Egypt’s striker Ahmed Ali has expressed his disappointment after the recent rumours that claim that Saudi Al Hilal management have decided not to hold onto him for the coming season.
The 22-year-old striker joined Al Hilal in January on a six-month loan deal from Egypt’s Ismaily. After an ineffective start, he has become an integral member of the team amid reports that they are aiming to make his loan deal permanent.
“All the reports about my departure are not true. My coach Gabriel Calderon told me that they will inform me of their final decision after Egypt’s match with South Africa next Sunday,” the Pharaohs star was quoted as saying by Saudi newspaper Al Eqtisadiah on Tuesday.
“Despite our recent humble results, I am proud of my performance and of proving my worth quickly with a great club like Al Hilal,” he added.
Ali, who is preparing now with the Egyptian national football team for the crucial 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Bafana Bafana, has scored five goals for Al-Hilal in all competitions this season.
