A delegation from Egyptian Premier League side Maqassa has arrived in Sudan on Monday to finalise the deal of El-Merreikh International goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary.

Maqassa officials have been in talks with their Sudanese counterparts over the past week to sign the 38-year old shot-stopper, and now it is time to complete the formalities.

According to Egyptian daily newspaper Al-Ahram, Maqassa will offer $500,000 to sign El-Hadary, who has already revealed a wish to return to Egypt.

Despite his signing a three-year contract with El-Merreikh last January, the former Ahly and Zamalek goalkeeper announced that he will leave this summer, revealing that several other clubs are interested in his services.

He finally got the green light after being involved in series of clashes with El-Merreikh management.

“I have agreed with the club president Gamal El-Waly to leave on August 6, and he understood the reasons why I have to stay in Cairo in the coming period,” the four-time African title winner was quoted as saying by Al-Ahram.
