Arsenal's Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny announced that he needs to improve his speed to meet English Premier League standards.

Elneny, who was Arsenal's only winter signing after joining from Basel, succeeded in booking a regular place in the Gunner's squad following his arrival. He has made 13 appearances so far this season.

"Some of Arsenal's fans recognised that I don't have the necessary speed, so I'm going to work on improving it in the future to meet the English Premier League style," Elneny told Arsenal's official television channel.

"I train well with Arsenal and try to run more than my teammates who save their power for the games, so that has helped me to raise my fitness.

"I always try to learn more from players who play in the same position but I prefer to have my own style," Elneny said.

The 23-year-old midfielder is part of Egypt's national team squad that is bidding for a place in the 2018 World Cup.

"Egypt can reach the 2018 World Cup and we are working to achieve this target," he added.

"Egypt have talented players and we have received good support during the qualification games," the Egyptian star said.
