In a long interview published by Goal.com, AC Milan forward Stephan El-Shaarawy reiterated that he has no thoughts of representing Egypt on senior level.

“To tell you the truth, there was the possibility of playing with Egypt. The Egyptian federation was looking for me but I always thought of only the Azzurri shirt, and thus I gently declined the offer,” El-Shaarawy said when asked if he never thought about choosing Egypt as his national side.

Egypt U-23 coach Hani Ramzy and then officials from the Egyptian FA held talks with the 18-year old player, whose father is Egyptian, but their attempts failed.

“”If I had played even a single game with Egypt, I would not have been able to wear the jersey of Italy and thus I preferred to let it go,” he added.

The Rossoneri’s hot prospect revealed that he is no rush of breaking through the Azzurri squad when he was asked if he expects to be at the Euro 2012.

“[Laughing]. I don’t know, it seems a bit soon. First I must find space at Milan,” he said. But the World cup 2014 “That’s a whole other case, it’s three years away. If I become a starter for Milan, then why not? One never knows.”
