Egyptian champions Ahly are considering signing their former winger Mahmoud "Trezeguet" Hassan on loan after Belgian giants Anderlecht put the player on their transfer list, football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz said on Monday.

"Trezeguet came up through Ahly's youth ranks and we would certainly be happy if he rejoined the team, but he could have other offers from European clubs," Abdel-Hafiz told an Egyptian radio station.

The 22-year-old Trezeguet, who made his first appearance with Ahly's senior team in 2012, left the Reds in 2016 to join Anderlecht. He also serves as midfielder on Egypt's national team.

He joined Royal Excel Mouscron on a season-long loan last season seeking regular football. The winger made a big impact in the Belgian league, scoring seven goals in 28 appearances across different competitions.

"I talked with Trezeguet about his return during the national team's recent training camp. We respect his desire to continue his career in Europe, but if he doesn't find a club we will see what we can do," explained the Ahly football director.

"It is possible that we could sign him on loan," he concluded.

Trezeguet, who missed Egypt's 1-0 loss to Tunisia in the 2019 African Cup qualifiers on Sunday due to a foot injury, recently raised doubts about his future.

"My contract with Anderlecht is still running for another three seasons and my future isn't determined yet," the Egyptian international said.

"I am ready for Ahly's call at any time, but at the same time I need to build my name in Europe," he added.
