Egyptian fullback Mohamed Abdel-Shafy has joined Saudi side Al-Fath on a six-month loan deal after spending three-and-a-half seasons with Ahly Jeddah.

The former Zamalek defender joined the Saudi league in 2014 when he signed a one season loan deal with Ahly before the latter decided to make his loan deal permanent in 2015.

Abdel-Shafy helped Ahly win the Saudi league and the Crown Prince Cup in 2015 before falling out of favour with coach Sergiy Rebrov, who took charge of the Saudi side last summer.

The international fullback is a regular member in the Pharaohs squad that ended a 28-year World Cup drought under the guidance of coach Hector Cuper.

Al-Fath are tenth on the league table with 19 points, 12 points behind leaders Al-Hilal.
