Egyptian striker Amr Gamal has parted ways with South African side Bidvest Wits, team coach Gavin Hunt announced on Monday.

"Gamal has gone to Finland," Hunt was quoted as saying by South African website Kickoff.com

The 26-year-old joined Bidvest from Cairo giants Ahly last summer on a one-season loan deal but he failed to establish himself with the team, scoring five goals in 19 appearances in all competitions.

Reports linked him with HJK Helsinki of Finland and Hunt confirmed the matter.

"It did not work out [with us]; that’s football. It was disappointing because I thought he would do well for us but it did not work out due to various football reasons,” Hunt said.

"I just felt that there are certain things that the game requires in different countries. It happens in football but there is no bad feeling," he explained.

"Things happen you know. He had never been out of his country. Foreign players do take a bit of time."
