Egypt coach Hector Cuper has heaped praise on star Mohamed Salah after his outstanding performances and achievements with English Premier League side Liverpool this season.

"Salah had an evolution due to the increase in his performance, especially in the experiences he had in Switzerland (Basel) and Chelsea. He was very young, and ... the demands began to be different and he was living that process very well," Cuper told Argentinean news website infobae.

"He is a very humble boy, very simple, a player who is not at all conflictive; he usually listens a lot even though he is a very important player and with everything he has experienced," added the 62-year old coach.

The 25-year-old Salah, who is an iconic figure in Egypt, won the PFA and Writers' Player of the Year in the Premier League, with an incredible 41-goal debut season at Liverpool. He is currently the Premier League top scorer with 31 goals, four ahead of Tottenham's striker Harry Kane.

Mo, who is often compared to figures such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, became the first Egyptian player ever to reach the Champions League final Wednesday as Liverpool secured their spot with a 7-6 aggregate victory over AS Roma.

In January, Salah was named African Footballer of the Year for 2017. He was also the first to be named the Premier League’s player of the month three times in one season.

Under the guidance of coach Cuper, Salah was key in helping Egypt's national team reach the African Nations Cup final and qualify for this year’s World Cup — which will begin mid-June in Russia — after 28 years of absence.

"Behind a great player there is a team. Nobody can do everything. We have a selection that supports him and helps. Like him, it also contributes a lot," the former Valencia coach said about the national team.
