Egyptian fullback Karim Hafez has joined Istanbul Basaksehir on a one-season loan deal, the Turkish side announced on Wednesday.

The Wadi Degla defender spent the last season on loan with French second division side Lens before moving to Turkey.

The 22-year-old was regular member of Egypt's squad under former coach Hector Cuper but was dropped from the side that participated at the summer World Cup in Russia

Cuper's successor Javier Aguirre also left Hafez out of the Pharaohs' squad for the upcoming African Nations Cup qualifier against Niger on 8 September.
