Egypt midfielder Mohamed Zidan has announced he wants to leave Borussia Dortmund after spending most of the season on the bench.

"I’m 30-years-old and want to play regularly, not be second or third choice," Zidan told German newspaper Bild.

"I will stay until my contract expires in the summer. I love this club where I secured my first league title, but I need to play regular football."

"I'm in negations with clubs both in the Bundesliga and outside Germany," he said, without revealing further details.

The Port Said-born player expressed a desire to remain in Germany.

"We [he and his Danish wife] will not sell our home in Dortmund. It is the city of my greatest happiness because my son Adam was born here. I promised myself that before I leave Borussia, I'll make Adam a member of the club," he concluded.
