Egypt's Ittihad of Alexandria have reached an agreement with Sudanese side Merriekh to sign goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary.
As past of the deal Ittihad will pay El-Hadary’s $750,000 fine imposed by Merriekh for boycotting training.
The coastal club had earlier agreed with the 39-year-old keeper a two-and-a-half-year contract worth LE5 million.
Merriekh previously filed a complaint to FIFA after the former Ismaily and Zamalek player refused to attend training.
The Pharaohs’ long-standing keeper played an instrumental role in helping Egypt win three successive African titles but has been dogged by a string of problems since leaving Egyptian champions Ahly for Swiss side Sion in 2008. The move was not authorised by his Cairo employers whose subsequent complaint saw a tranfer embargo imposed on Sion.
