Egypt forward Mohamed Zidan may miss Mainz’s Bundesliga match against Hannover due to illness, coach Thomas Tuchel said on Friday.
The 30-year-old, who rejoined Mainz from league holders Borussia Dortmind in January, was unable to complete a scheduled training session on Thursday.
“He's suffering from a gastrointestinal illness,” Tuchel was quoted as saying by German newspaper Allgemeine Zeitung.
Zidan scored on his first appearance with Mainz as they held Schalke to a 1-1 draw last Saturday.
He dedicated his goal to the victims of Egypt's Port Said football tragedy, which left 74 fans killed and scores injured when Masry supporters invaded the pitch following a league game earlier this month.
